For hospitalized patients, even our long-time patients:

If you are hospitalized and want Dr. Penn to be your ID Specialist, tell your hospital physician and nurse. Otherwise the hospital may assign you another.

If you need help facilitating this, or if you are assigned another despite your request, call us at 402.934.6504. If you know you will be hospitalized, let us know, too. Know you have the right to choose your physicians, including your ID Specialist. You have a choice. Make it known.

For new patients in our office infusion center:

Referring physicians should call our office. We can usually arrange a weekday infusion if we know about the patient before 2 P.M. Weekend infusions are best arranged the day before.

For potential new office patients:

Dr. Penn accepts new office patients by referral from other healthcare providers. If you believe you need an ID Specialist, ask your primary care provider for a referral to Dr. Penn and to fax your medical records to our office. Our fax is 402.934.6518. See our New Patient Referral Form.

For patient care questions, please phone.

A real person knowledgeable in how to handle your call will answer. We do not use phone menus. If you want, see Administrative/Nursing Staff, to help you know with whom you are speaking. All calls should go to our main number, 402.934.6504. During main office hours our Patient Care Coordinators can best expedite your call. After hours, our answering service answers this number and will direct your call appropriately.

For insurance plan questions, please phone.

We participate in all health insurance plans that Methodist Hospital participates in, as well as many other Nebraska and Iowa insurance plans.  For a complete list of all insurance plans in which we participate, click here.
